Aneta Pillay

Aneta was born in Durban, South Africa. After receiving the Dean’s commendation in the final semester of her LLB, she pursued an LLM while working as a graduate assistant supervisor at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal.  She then co-lectured a final year LLB course for a semester while completing her articles of clerkship.

After qualifying as an attorney, Aneta worked for a South African maritime law firm (which has since merged with Bowmans) for two years.  During this period, Aneta also worked for Holland and Knight LLP (based in New York) as an international legal assistant.  Thereafter, Aneta qualified as an English solicitor and joined Roose+Partners in October 2017, after a spell with Reed Smith.

She handles many of the legal aspects which arise from casualty matters including claims for general cargo loss and/or damage and/or salvage indemnity, the negotiation of security for the release of cargo, and the defence of General Average claims.  Her matters involve London High Court proceedings, LMAA arbitration and the pursuit of claims internationally via local Courts.

Aneta speaks Portuguese, enjoys science fiction, baking and entertaining family and friends.
