Sian Heard

Sian began her career as a litigation specialist, but has developed a broader shipping and commercial practice. She qualified in 1987 into the dry shipping litigation department of a major London shipping firm and was made a partner in 1996. During this time, she specialised exclusively in litigation, and handled a broad range of complex commercial shipping disputes for owners, charterers, operators, brokers and other intermediaries arising under voyage and time charterparties, COAs, ship sale and purchase contracts, agency and ship management contracts.

In 2004, she started her own practice. Litigation remained the mainstay of her work, but her shipping clients began to instruct her on non-litigious commercial matters, including purchase/sale and registration of ships, due diligence, joint venture and shareholder agreements and insolvency matters. Her clients also instructed her in employment matters, including contract preparation, dismissal,  review, restructuring and redundancy.

Sian joined us as a consultant in 2016 and continues to provide general commercial and employment advice alongside her commercial shipping litigation practice.
