Philip Roose

Philip is a qualified solicitor with 30 years experience of litigating high profile shipping matters through the High Court in London, in Arbitration, and in legal proceedings internationally. He has been the lead Recovery and GA defence Partner on many of the largest shipping casualties of recent times including Yantian Express, APL Vancouver, Hoegh Osaka, and MOL Comfort, usually representing cargo underwriters and their insureds.

Philip is responsible for the Firm’s largest recovery to date, on behalf of Japanese cargo insurers, being a payment of U$18m from P&I interests in respect of damage to a cargo of soya beans abandoned off a port in Brazil

Prior to establishing Roose+Partners, Philip spent 15 years at Clyde & Co, including 9 as a Partner, and 6 years at Waltons & Morse (now Kennedy’s).
